I joined the Compass community as the part-time School Counselor in October of 2014. I feel honored very much a part of a team of knowledgeable and committed educators, who strive to educate the “whole” child.
I grew in the suburbs of NY, then Boston and attended both the U. Mass- Amherst and U. of Oregon- Eugene, where I earned my B.A. in psychology. After a few years of living on the west coast and in Europe, I returned to New England to attend graduate school, earning a Masters in Expressive Therapy with a specialty in Art Therapy. I spent the next 15 years in Boston, working as a child and family therapist, and starting a family. In 1996 we relocated to Brattleboro where I gradually reentered the workforce: running a summer arts camp, working as the art teacher in several special education classrooms, and as a Parent-Teacher Liaison throughout the WSESU. I then stepped into the position of Therapeutic Art Teacher at the Brattleboro Retreat Meadows School. I returned to doing therapy 3 years ago, rediscovering my passion for working with children and families in this capacity.
Though I spend much of my time at Compass meeting individually with students, my position also includes participating in meetings and classes, consulting with parents, teachers and administrators, and creating opportunities for parent education and community-building. These all allow me to better understand the real lives of our students .
